“The first time I went to a RESULTS meeting I didn’t even know the name of my MP. Now, a year later, I have met him twice and he has asked a question in Parliament about the UK aid budget because I asked him to.”

Being an activist
Become an activist in a RESULTS group and you will work with other like-minded people in your area and take action locally that will make a difference globally.
There are three ways to participate in a RESULTS group:
- As a participant: you can come along to monthly ‘briefing and action’ meetings as and when you can. You get briefed on an issue, take part in a telephone conference call and take the action. Many people find that this works well in busy lives – one evening a month, write a letter and it’s done – you’ve made a difference.
- As a partner: you can be counted upon to play a more active role, taking responsibility for keeping the group healthy. Each group has a minimum of four partners; who meet at least twice a month and plan further local action. We ask all partners to keep the partner agreements. In return you will:
- Receive by email or mail an action pack every month.
- Participate in a telephone conference call with a guest to help brief you on the action you will be taking.
- Be invited to regional worksdays and our national and international conferences.
- Become an important member of our activist network.
- Receive coaching and support.
- As a group leader: you make sure that your group runs smoothly and on target, empowering and inspiring your partners to take action and develop their skills. The group leader takes part in regular support calls with regional coordinators. In most groups, this role is rotated around the partners.
Check our list of groups to find out the nearest one to you.
